Our mission statement
We are operating under the larger umbrella organization of the Sierra Club. For those who don’t know, they are a lauded environmental law and justice organization whose notable achievements include: aiding in the founding of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Clean Water Act, and the Clean Air Act. Our mission statement is “To explore, enjoy and protect the planet… and to use all lawful means to carry out those objectives.” We, the Sierra Club at Cornell, adamantly concur with their values and have our own goal: To empower ourselves as young people using the resources of our prestigious institution, create a welcoming environment for exploring interdisciplinary sustainability, and pioneer novel solutions to save ourselves, our communities, and our planet. With such lofty goals and an admirable legacy inherited from our parent organization, we ask only for your best effort and passion. Anything you contribute is valuable—let’s do good work together.
